Training days 2026

On Monday, January 5, we kicked off the new year with the annual Training Days. More than 200 employees of Vroom, Beton- en Vlechtbedrijf Hadek, and VDB Funderingstechnieken gathered from 7:00 a.m. at Hotel Van der Valk in Oostzaan.

After the welcome speech, the inspiring address by Peter Vroom about his career at Vroom, his stepping down as Managing Director—which is not a farewell—and the presentations by the Board, the first central topic of the Training Days was introduced: Communication.

For this, Harry Piekema was invited as an external speaker. Piekema is a Dutch actor, television presenter, voice actor, stage performer, and director. From 2004 to 2014, he appeared in Albert Heijn’s TV commercials as supermarket manager Henk van Dalen. Piekema shared a captivating story about what communication is, why it can sometimes be difficult or confusing, and on which levels of communication you can connect with others to convey your message as effectively as possible.

After the coffee break, the interactive workshops took place, during which groups of approximately thirty colleagues engaged in conversation. Employees were able to choose three workshops from the list below:

  • Investing and sustainability
  • Safety risks at work
  • Product quality
  • Collaboration and communication within Vroom
  • Consequences of damages
  • Employee satisfaction survey

At the end of the first Training Day, the new Safety jigsaw puzzle was handed out to all employees. The puzzle is a cartoon-style illustration of a construction site showing all common Vroom activities, with Vroom’s new core values reflected in 1,000 pieces: safety, well-being, reliability, decisiveness, craftsmanship, involvement, and solution-oriented thinking.

On Tuesday, January 6, the second Training Day was held at various locations, consisting of mandatory training sessions for employees in different fields of expertise.

We look back on two very successful Training Days, where knowledge sharing and togetherness were central.
