WKA (Chain Liability Act)

The Chain Liability Act is a Dutch law that was introduced to combat underpayment and exploitation of workers, especially in the construction sector. The law holds clients and main contractors jointly liable for the payment of wages to the employees of their subcontractors. This means that if a subcontractor fails to pay their workers correctly, the workers or the Tax Authority can hold the client or the main contractor accountable to fulfill the owed wages. The aim of the Chain Liability Act is to ensure that all workers, including those of subcontractors, are fairly compensated for their work.
