Solid foundation for sustainable living on Centrumeiland Block 3

102 piles50 homes

At Centrumeiland Block 3, Vroom and Hadek worked together on the foundation and concrete works for a new, sustainable residential building. Using smart techniques and precise craftsmanship, a solid base was created for the timber superstructure of the project.

The foundation was executed using DPA screw piles, a low-vibration and low-noise technique in which only a limited amount of soil is displaced. After installation, the piles were checked, measured and cropped, creating the correct starter bar length for a strong connection with the foundation. The reinforcement, produced in Hadek’s rebar facility, was accurately positioned, after which a temporary timber formwork was installed with all required openings. The concrete was poured and compacted using a concrete pump. After curing, the formwork was removed and reused. The lift pit and floors were also cast in situ by Hadek. On this concrete base, main contractor HSB Bouw realised the timber superstructure.

Centrumeiland Block 3 combines smart layouts with sustainable materials

A sustainable residential building is rising on Centrumeiland with 50 social rental homes, consisting of a mix of four family houses on the ground floor and 46 two-room apartments of approximately 50 m2. The complex will feature a shared courtyard garden and an internal bicycle storage area, allowing residents to benefit from shared green amenities. The building is being constructed in solid timber, a deliberate choice that contributes to a lower environmental impact and a future-focused way of building. Centrumeiland Block 3 therefore forms an important and sustainable addition to the neighbourhood.
