Benefit match Ajax/Only Friends – Vroom

On a memorable Wednesday evening, March 27, two teams from diverse backgrounds faced off on the soccer field: the Vroom Soccer Team and the combined force of Ajax/Only Friends.

In Amsterdam-Noord, surrounded by the lively atmosphere of the Friendship Sports Centre, unfolded a match that was more than just a battle for points. It was a celebration of inclusivity, resilience and community spirit.

The Only Friends selection team, enriched with the experience of former Ajax soccer players, has proven itself as a formidable opponent in the 5th division of the KNVB over the past six seasons. Their team, composed of players with a mild disability, radiates an unmatched willpower and dedication. Vroom, a company with a strong belief in social contribution, took on this impressive opponent, driven by a similar character of positive impact and support.

The match began after a vigorous warm-up under an almost clear sky, with the smell of freshly cut grass wafting over the field. The clicking of studs in the catacombs and the buzz of expectant spectators were palpable. From the first whistle, it was clear that both teams were eager to show their best game, an embodiment of perseverance and team spirit.

The game unfolded with a dynamism that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. Despite the impressive cooperation and synergy within the Ajax/Only Friends team, it became clear that Vroom was a formidable opponent. With unyielding determination and tactical insight, Vroom managed to break through the defense of Ajax/Only Friends, resulting in two goals before the break in favor of Vroom.

Coaches Peter Vroom and Theo van Putten needed little adjustment to the strong lineup at half-time, and with a few tactical pointers, the teams returned to the field for the second half.

Ajax/Only Friends put up a good resistance for the first twelve minutes, but the 0-3 could not be prevented. The progress of the second half was marked by a back and forth of tight passes, shots on goal and saves by both goalkeepers. Yet, it was evident that the Vroom team was stronger in terms of soccer. Vroom scored five more times, resulting in a final score of 0-8.

This final score, a victory for Vroom, symbolizes not only their triumph on the scoreboard but also their commitment to social engagement. By this victory, they underline their support for the noble cause of Only Friends: promoting sports among young people with a disability. Vroom thus proves that success on the field goes hand in hand with making a positive impact off the field.

The visual report of the match shows not only the action on the field but also the unique atmosphere and community spirit of the evening. This visual documentation serves as a lasting reminder of a match that was more than a sporting event: it was a manifestation of the power of inclusivity and the impact of collaboration for a good cause.

Vroom, in their pursuit of societal support, has once again shown that their involvement extends beyond the business world. By participating in this match and the Only Friends Benefit Nights, they reaffirm their promise to improving quality of life and providing hope and resilience to young athletes with a disability.

Thus ended an evening that was about more than just soccer; it was a celebration of humanity, connection and the unwavering belief that sport has the power to change lives. Vroom and Ajax/Only Friends continue to inspire, both on and off the field, as examples of what is possible when we collaborate for a greater purpose.

Together we are Vroom!
