Modular building project
Housing association apartments are being built on the Melchiorhof in Oudesluis (Noord-Holland) to accommodate people of all ages who are looking for a rental home. These dwellings are being built with the help of an innovative conceptual building system developed by Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling, in collaboration with Ursem Modulaire Bouwsystemen. The building will be made up of two staggered blocks, each with six 3-room apartments on two storeys that are accessible via a terrace.
Modular construction offers numerous benefits including a short building time, due to the conditioned environment of the building site. This means that the weather has a minimal impact and the surrounding area experiences hardly any interference from the work.
Moreover, modular construction is more environmentally friendly, as it makes efficient use of materials and restricts waste streams. With a rapid building time in prospect, the first dwellings will be completed as early as the end of this year.
