Sequoia Oosterhout: large-scale BESS for a future-proof electricity grid

In Oosterhout, work is underway on Sequoia Oosterhout, a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) that contributes to a future-proof electricity grid. With a tight schedule, specialist engineering and stringent dimensional accuracy requirements, we are laying a reliable foundation for sustainable energy storage.

This project is characterised by an ambitious schedule and demanding requirements for precision and dimensional accuracy. To successfully meet these challenges, our involvement begins well before construction work commences. During the design and engineering phases, we work closely with the client and supply chain partners, including Schokindustrie, to identify technical challenges at an early stage and develop solutions that contribute to a smooth construction process.

By combining knowledge, experience and specialist expertise from the outset, we work with all parties involved to establish a solid basis for execution. Thorough preparation enables us to manage risks, anticipate potential bottlenecks and maintain effective control over quality, scheduling and safety. Through advanced engineering, precise process management and continuous quality control, we are able to meet the project’s stringent requirements while keeping progress on track.

This integrated approach ensures reliable project execution, bringing together technical expertise, collaboration and precision. Our close cooperation with Schokindustrie contributes to optimal coordination between design, engineering and construction. In this way, we are not only literally laying the foundations for the project, but also establishing the basis for a predictable and successful outcome.

Sequoia Geertruidenberg energy storage

Sequoia Oosterhout, a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), is being developed in the municipality of Oosterhout, making a significant contribution to the future of the Dutch electricity grid. The project will be connected to TenneT's 150 kV substation in Geertruidenberg and has been designed as sustainable energy infrastructure for the long term.

With a power output of 200 MW and a storage capacity of 800 MWh, Sequoia Oosterhout can temporarily store large quantities of energy and release them when needed. The project therefore contributes to reducing grid congestion, improving grid stability and making more efficient use of renewable energy.

Sequoia Oosterhout thus plays an important role in the energy transition and supports the continued growth of renewable energy sources in the Netherlands. A forward-looking project that brings together innovation, reliability and sustainable energy supply.
