Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September marked the reaching of our 60th anniversary in the imposing Kromhouthal in Amsterdam-Noord.
On Thursday 8 September, the Kromhouthal was transformed into a real party location. Two foundation rigs were set up outside. We set up one half of the 2300 m2 indoor floor area as an exhibition space, showing the newest loader, a lorry, a mobile site hut, small scale material and the things that go with it, foundation beams and, on either side of the red carpet, photos that made up an impressive collage of the rich history of Vroom, the theme being ‘people’, because Vroom is nothing without them! The other half of the 140-metre long industrial hall was equipped with an eye-catching circular bar with a diameter of 5 metres, flowers, plants, atmospheric lighting, sound system, stage, projection screen and food stations.
On the Friday, we held a reception for clients and associates as part of the celebrations, while the Saturday was dedicated to the large-scale celebrations with our employees and their partners.
Let the celebrations begin!
On Friday afternoon, everything was ready to receive our clients at 3.00 p.m. with a welcome drink of cava. There were speeches, a presentation from Only Friends (sports club for children and young people with a disability) and there was time for people to share many memories, while talking about the future of our industry. As our invited guests left, they were given a copy of our jubilee publication.
On Saturday afternoon transport was laid on for our employees and their partners who were brought from their homes in three coaches, arriving at 5.00 p.m. Hotel rooms were reserved for employees who live relatively far away. The atmosphere was buzzing right from the word ‘go’ with familiar music, the food stations offering tempting bites from all four corners of the world did a brisk trade and, at 8.30 p.m., party-goers raised the roof when band The Recipe started playing their set.
Hundreds of people visited the green-screen studio for a photo as a memento of the occasion. In the studio they could be depicted in the bucket of a loader, sitting on a steel tube or in the lift of the leader of a piling rig. More than 150 people took the opportunity to join the special Vroom trip on the river IJ and the canals of Amsterdam.
Then it was midnight. There had been much laughter and dancing, and everyone left the party with a wide smile, and a copy of the Vroom jubilee publication under their arm.
We would like to thank everyone for these two fantastic and, consequently, unforgettable days.
