During InfraTech 2025 in Rotterdam Ahoy, we held a contest at our stand. The rotating, transparent cylinder filled with red Vroom pens was the subject of the competition: “Guess the number of pens and win a Vroom sandwich toaster.”
Of the hundreds of participants, one came very close to the correct answer: Simon van der Ven from Lentiz MBO in Barendrecht. He guessed 332, while the actual number was 321 pens. A minor deviation of only 3%. This demonstrates technical, spatial, and mathematical insight—without a doubt. Simon is a teacher of Green, Soil, and Green Infrastructure at Lentiz and visited InfraTech 2025 with a group of students. He told us that he and his students spent quite some time making an accurate estimation of the number of pens in the cylinder. He and his students are the well-deserved winners of the sandwich toaster.
On Wednesday, February 5, we personally delivered the prize to Barendrecht, where it will find a great spot in the new cafeteria, allowing everyone to prepare their own toasties.
Talents
During the handover, we spoke with Simon about the school, the different study tracks available, and how internships are structured. Lentiz offers both the vocational training pathway (BOL) and the work-based learning pathway (BBL). The name Lentiz refers to spring and symbolizes growth, development, dynamism, and innovation. For twenty years, Lentiz has been developing education that is ready for the future and prepares students for it. They set their own course and are not afraid to lead the way. This approach attracts talent that shares Lentiz’s ambitions and drive.
That appeals to us, which is why we will soon organize a visit with Lentiz to a construction site where Vroom is currently carrying out foundation work. This way, we aim to inform and inspire students and supervisors about our fascinating field.
We wish the students and the team at Lentiz lots of enjoyment with their well-earned sandwich toaster. Enjoy your meal!
