Safety ladder step 3 achieved

The audit for step 3 of the Safety Culture Ladder was successfully completed on 3 March 2022.

The auditors were very happy about the way in which all Vroom employees had adopted the recommendations for improvement that followed the completion of the step 2 audit last year, and integrated them into the organisation. A clear upward trajectory is visible in the experience, improvement and compliance with safety consciousness. We are proud of our employees and would like to thank everyone who has done their bit during the audit challenges over the past year to get us up to step 3.

What is the Safety Culture Ladder?

The Safety Culture Ladder stimulates awareness of safety issues and consciously safe actions. The aim is to tackle the number of unsafe or dangerous situations, leading to fewer incidents, less absence from work and fewer instances of damage. An essential factor in this is the awareness in all strata of the organisation of contributions to safety on an individual level. That has everything to do with attitude, behaviour and culture. Safety issues are discussed openly, and management takes on board what employees have to say in that respect.

The use of the Safety Culture Ladder has a wide function. It offers a framework for safe working practices to all parties, both those working inside the organisation and out: employees, clients and suppliers. Together, we are responsible for safety.
The Safety Culture Ladder divides awareness of safety issues and behaviour into five rungs (or steps) of the ladder. The management of Vroom Funderingstechnieken (Vroom Foundation Technology) decided to go for step 3 of this ladder, which meant we had five days’ worth of auditing by SGS. We reached step 3 thanks to the efforts of everyone who was interviewed, and our employees’ knowledge and capabilities were singled out for praise.

The effort required to reach and maintain this level does not stop now that step 3 has been reached. It is an ongoing process, the aim of which is to keep improving and working towards greater safety and health.
