With many different lengths and diameters of pre-cast piles, and pre-cast beams of various dimensions, this all forms something of a challenging puzzle. Building with foundation beams benefits efficiency in general, speed of construction and consistent quality of the end product. And which also allows for the specific wishes of the future residents of the terraced, semi-detached and detached houses.
Pre-cast foundation beams can be made in a wide range of standard widths and heights, and in any given length; they can be fitted with embeds of all kinds, such as:
Gaps into which the starter bars from the foundation piles can be slotted;
Hoisting fittings for assembly of the structural elements;
Ducts for cables and pipes, such as waste water drainage, rainwater and ventilation;
Starter bars or DEMU anchors at the top to form an attachment with walls;
Rabbets for inserting masonry at levels below ground.
All the foundation work under one roof: that is Vroom’s strength. It is appealing both in terms of throughput time and cost.
The ‘outdoor living’ feeling
Hoef en Haag is a village under construction on the banks of the Lek, part of the local authority of Vijfherenlanden in the Province of Utrecht. As of 1 January 2021 the village had a population of 1,940. Construction work on the village started in 2016. The town of Vianen, close by, aimed to expand its population to 21,000.
That meant that a large-scale newbuild project was necessary and the result of that was the land on which Hoef en Haag stands being earmarked. The Hoef en Haag development plan includes many different types of dwelling, in a range of colours, with various styles of roof, made of differing materials.
The result of all these differences is that the immediate surrounding area has a very light-hearted atmosphere. That light-hearted air is not just the result of the materials and colours; many variations in height have also been worked into the plan. The heights of the roof and guttering differ from each other and that adds another aspect to the freedom of the 'outdoor living’ feeling. Front gardens in Hoef en Haag have a range of dimensions, making this development anything but a standard newbuild estate: the dwellings are not prim and proper, 'all in a row'.
